The Inner Game of Online Network Marketing

Success in Online Network Marketing is a combination of your own “Inner Game” and Relationships.

It’s really that simple…

And it’s really that deep.

These days with or without Multi-Level-Marketing companies…

With or without “corporate” direct sales companies and their products…

The normal gal with a burning desire to succeed and build out her own home based business can do so by being focused, learning how to get exposure to other like-minded people, building a list to follow up with and trading her own products, memberships and/or services or her team’s products, memberships or services amongst her new list of friends.

It really is that simple.

The Online Network Marketing arena is going through a major revolution today in part because people have noticed and are starting to really understand just how much leverage and power they have now versus the entities that used to control this industry only a few years back.

It used to be that the large and entrenched Multi-Level Marketing Companies ruled the roost in the network marketing world. They dictated what was sold, how it was sold and how you got paid.

They also dictated the inner culture and philosophy of their marketing methods and if you didn’t fit in, you had to adjust and mold yourself to their philosophy and ideals very quickly or be cast off as a misfit or “loser” or closed minded person “not ready for real success.”

This type of “Inner Game” warfare was waged on the new person as well as on the seasoned marketing professional alike. This is what gave the industry such a “cult-like” feeling for non conformists and “outside-the-box” thinkers in the arena who would shun and stay away from a “vibe” like that.

But online network marketing is changing vastly at its core and it’s happening fast.

The Social Networking Phenomena is CRUSHING Old Ways of Thinking

The internet and social media have been the major vehicle that is changing the entire landscape of online network marketing. The power is back within the people, where it belonged in the first place.

Traditional MLM and Network Marketing has been plagued by a cancer that is incurable. The faster, easier and more mainstream the Internet has become, and now especially with the networking power of social media networks such as Facebook, blogging, twitter and YouTube, the higher the attrition rates climb and retention is a nightmare. This cancer hurts the small marketer the most.

Because of this ironic relationship, people have discovered that they can now create their own networks, and build their own cultures and tribes around their own communities and promote their own products lines, services and membership clubs – all without the need for the middleman that used to take all the profits and straddle them with all the risk – the large MLM and Direct Sales Companies.

The Middleman is Optional

This movement – revolution, really – is just in its conception. But it’s gaining mind share among an industry where today it’s seen as “common sense.” More and more people are discovering that THEY hold the power and the leverage and there is no need to even negotiate with MLM.

A tight Tribe – or community of like-minded people can train themselves, build their own identity, provide more value to each other and create and market their own product lines, which helps them retain the lions share of the profits and distribute that within the tribe.

The most common form of product line is information. Information products are THE most profitable forms of commerce online. An information product can consist of a physical course book, Audio CDs, DVDs or even digital courses, audios, videos and even membership clubs where training and content is sold to paid members. They can generate direct, passive as well as residual streams of income just like any corporate MLM. Only this time the profit margins are as high as 85-97%. And these profits are distributed within the tribe.

Revolutionary. But very real and a growing awareness is taking hold now. The question is very real: Why struggle to swim upstream in an unbelievably difficult to accomplish model, when you can “nimble up” and retain more profit and faster momentum with less restrictions by getting rid of the middleman and taking better care of your network at the grass root level?

It’s an “Inner Game” thing…

Most people have not even conceived that this is possible. And others are more attached to the “self image” of the big MLM rather than the business leverage of going “Tribe.” Have you ever noticed? Some MLMs have a “self image” or attitude that people coming from the corporate world still “need” to cling to. They’d take less compensation, a harder to build model and volunteer to become just another “corporate” sales rep and make peanuts, while bearing all the downside risk, solely because at the conventions and on the web sites, the corporate MLM makes them “feel” as if they are a corporate executive (albeit without nearly the pay) and many people trade that “self image” for their real business.

Online Network Marketing Revolutionary Changes

It’s changing fast. The changes are deep. It’s a very exciting time for those of us that are embracing and riding this shifting and growing wave. It’s going to get uglier for those that are set on resisting it. But there really is limited debate in the market place. There is a BIG reason why attrition at all MLMs is a nightmare:

If you resist changes that the market demands, you will LOSE. Period.

You can restrict internet marketing in your company.

You can ban people from talking about your company on facebook.

You can threaten to take checks and downlines from reps found online doing “marketing” and you can create a canabalistic environment where uplines are spying and ratting out their own downlines so they can keep their networks and checks…

You can live in that reactionary mode. Your choice. You can wrap it in a “corporate feel” and in stuffy “professional associations” and try to self politic the resistance to change. But in the end you will only worsen attrition and retention will become even more of a nightmare.


You simply do not own the market and what IT wants.

People will discover a way that is more in line with what they came to this industry looking for and they will align themselves with their true passions. Period.

Online Network Marketing is in a very exciting time right now and only time will tell what other adjustments and creative new models rise to the surface as people take control of the leverage and begin to teach others just how powerful they have really become.

So, what do I do?

I say you learn marketing skills asap.

Learn networking skills quickly.

Direct Response Marketing

Human Relation Skills

Find and hang around people who teach philosophy of success, personal growth and how to merge that with social networking and online network marketing skills.

Build your own list.

Learn how to meet more strangers and turn them into friends.

Build a tribe or become of a member of one within your passions.

And simply share the good news.

It’s all an “Inner Game” arena now.
