The Daily Caller reporting on the suspension of hacker Guccifer by Twitter…

Twitter has suspended the account of the computer hacker who on Friday published a spreadsheet purported to contain personal contact information for nearly 200 Democratic members of Congress.

The hacker, who goes by the pseudonym Guccifer 2.0 and is believed to be somehow connected to the Russian government, had recently invited reporters to reach out through Twitter to obtain additional hacked documents.

WikiLeaks, which last month published nearly 20,000 Democratic National Committee emails stolen by hackers, flagged the suspension of the Guccifer 2.0 account.

Guccifer 2.0 published some DNC information on a WordPress website starting in June. The hacker shared other documents with several news outlets. WikiLeaks published the 20,000 DNC emails last month.

That release led to the resignation of Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz as DNC chair. Several other officials were forced out as well because some of their email exchanges showed them appearing to plot against Bernie Sanders.

Guccifer 2.0’s latest document dump is of records stolen from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), the campaign arm of House Democrats. The documents include the email and physical addresses of nearly 200 Democratic members of Congress. The hacker also published lists of passwords used by DCCC staffers.

Guccifer 2.0 has recently invited journalists to reach out through Twitter in order to obtain hacked documents.

“Dear journalists, you may send me a DM [direct message] if you’re interested in exclusive materials from the DCCC, which I have plenty of,” reads Guccifer 2.0’s site.

Last month, the user of Guccifer 2.0’s Twitter account invited this reporter to contact them through direct message in order to obtain hacked documents. Contact was not made.

Twitter’s rationale for the suspension is not immediately clear. The company did not respond to The Daily Caller’s request for comment about the suspension.

But the publication of other people’s private and confidential information is against the site’s rules, its website states.

“You may not publish or post other people’s private and confidential information, such as credit card numbers, street address, or Social Security/National Identity numbers, without their express authorization and permission,” Twitter says.
