Marketing online is an ever changing facet of business. Blogging is by far becoming one of the most widely used forms of attraction marketing. Blogs by design attract visitors. Back then, everyone was told to get a webpage- either personal, family or business. We were told that the mere having was enough to launch us into cyberspace. 2) Include visual content. A relevant picture adds immensely to the appeal of a blog. Remember when webpages were mostly text based? Graphics add an additional element that captures and keeps readers attention.

3) Include outbound links. Blogs that link to useful ‘additional information’, either by way of a simple wiki link or a link to a related blog instill trust and tap into a larger network of information. This builds a relationship with your readers. They will tend to bookmark or RSS just because they know your blog is a gateway. You don’t want to try and trap visitors on your site, you want them to come and go freely. With the easy tools of bookmarking and backlinking, they won’t lose you.

4) Link internally to posts that you have previously done. Link to specific observations, books, blogs, websites, videos, social networking sites, products, etc. Make sure that reading your post is not overtaken with links, but, its always nice to have something interesting for the reader to stumble upon.

5) Do an interview. Yep, that’s right, an old-style, question and answer interview with someone in your business area that you respect. This is amazingly easy to do by email or over the phone. The post starts with a short bio (who the interviewee is) and then a series of questions and answers on a topic of interest to your readers.

6) This next tip is an oldie but a goodie, one that has nearly been forgotten. Content is king. If you have great content that your target audience wants, they will find you no matter what.

7) Because you have a blog, you can gain access as a newsperson and get credentials at conferences that are relevant to your business. You just have to write posts about the conference, which you can do while attending the conference. This has the advantages of promoting your blog (other attendees will want to see what you wrote), increasing connections and improving your knowledge in your industry.
