How to Invite Prospects to Learn About Your Product & Opportunity

That’s your main job in your home business.

Your only job, when just starting out, in a solid online home business program, is to find leads and prospects.

Once you find and create new leads, the next step is to approach them and invite them, properly, to understand your product or opportunity.

You can do this completely online like I do 99.9% of the time, or you can do this completely offline, or you can do this with a hybrid approach using both offline and online tools.

This is by far the most critical skill to develop.

I call it the “The Approach” and it’s a gateway skill in network marketing and online direct sales.

It’s much simpler than many people make it.

Most people make the mistake of using the approach of “the hunter” in prospecting people.

They “HUNT” their prey and are overly aggressive, pushy, spammy and just ineffective.

Very few truly pushy, annoying, aggressive salesy types actually get any results. They repel people. Most people think they need to act like some sales hack to get results but that’s not true. In fact, you’ll NEVER see me using any “hard pressure” or arrogant sales methods at all. I do the exact opposite. I use strategy, content and method (a process) to have people self-identify themselves as good, high quality prospects and my method allows them to walk themselves though my complete marketing process.

People see a smart method and they sell themselves.

They want to learn how to do it the smart way.

What’s the difference?

Instead of taking on a “hunter’s” philosophy, I use more of a “farmer’s” philosophy.

I cultivate my business leads and prospects like a farmer cultivates his field. I water it with consistent valuable content. I nourish it. I tend to it and make myself accessible on social media, or via phone to help answer basic questions and I act like a professional tour guide and simply show people to the next step in the process.

I don’t pitch.

I don’t need to.

And you don’t either.

I use a simple message.

That message leads people to a tool (information).

The tools I use (videos, webinars, emails, blog posts, facebook etc) help explain that I have a simple method they can use to create cash flow and freedom from home. If they’re interested in learning the details, they click and watch a video.

My approach is super simple. It’s a simple question I ask in a variety of ways, but the main idea of the question and message is:

“If I could show you a simple way to create extra cash flow online, would you be interested in learning how it worked?”

That’s basically it.

You can ask that same question a million different ways using YOUR words, not mine, but it’s basically simple.

“Are you open to a simple way to make extra money, on the side of whatever you’re currently doing?”

“Are you open to a side project that can create a significant cash flow for you with a simple system online?”

“Are you open to a simple way to use the Internet to create cash flow?”

“Are you open to a way to make money online?”

“Are you open to starting a business from home?”

I just asked those questions daily and they created a full time income for me.

Using those simple questions and others like them, I was able to act more like a “farmer” in my business. Successful people are like farmers, not hunters. They build relationships. They build friendships. They learn how to build trust with the people they meet and are able to skillfully transfer the belief they have about their products and opportunity.

Their goal isn’t to immediately recruit their prospects.

Their initial objective is to educate their prospects on what they have to offer and then let those prospects decide if it is something they want to do. Professionals use this time to LISTEN and learn what their prospects say they want and what they are looking for. They also focus on learning WHY they want those things. It’s simple ASKING good questions and LISTENING to the wants and desires of their prospect.

This could be a HUGE switch in strategy for people and it can make people look at things differently.

It just makes sense.

Instead of acting like a sales shark and looking for “prey” to beat down into a sale or push into an autoship or some program, you position yourself as more of a “tour guide” or an educator, a coach or consultant. You build relationships and then offer common-sense solutions to people’s problems. You become a valuable resource for people. They see you as someone they can come to, to learn more details without getting ambushed into some hard pressure sales pitch.

The other thing you’ll learn professionals do is they don’t “pitch” their product or opportunity. Instead, when the timing is right, they just invite people to do one of two things, based upon the individual prospect’s situation.

The first thing they do is to invite people to attend some sort of event, such as a video on a website, a recorded conference call, a recorded or live hangout/webinar or a live one-on-one “sit down” at a cafe etc.

Professionals understand personal interaction is a critical component when it comes to building trust and transferring belief, so they try to connect with people as much as possible.

The second thing they do is invite people to review some sort of tool.

I’m a BIG believer in using tools to help educate a prospect. Tools take many forms. There are videos, audios, podcasts, blog posts, webinars, brochures, booklets, pdf ebooks and full online presentations.

HOW MANY TIMES CAN YOU ASK PEOPLE A SIMPLE QUESTION?

I build my business around this philosophy.

As you click around my blog and the “about” section of my facebook, you’ll see that I’m basically “farming” in my business 24 hours daily with my content. Inside my content, I’m asking that simple question and sharing that simple message multiple times in every piece of content.

You’ll also notice that it doesn’t have to be complicated.

I simply focus on educating the public about this simple way to create cash flow online.

When they begin to understand the concept and they feel interested in learning more details, they click a link in my content and join my email newsletter. They watch a video online that breaks down my system and program. Then if they have any questions, they know they can access me via facebook, email or text my phone.

How much simpler can it be?

YOUR MAIN GOAL:

Just focus on setting up your marketing system. Then focus on networking, promoting, marketing, advertising and prospecting to meet new people and share your message daily. Ask your simple question in your content, in person, on social media. Then follow up.
