Building Multiple Income Streams without “losing focus” or losing your mind.

We’ve been building multiple income streams in the home based business industry for many years now. I train about it often. And somehow, we don’t train on it often enough. :0)

We get asked frequently, “Franco, how can you build multiple income streams, or multiple home based business opportunities without losing focus on your “primary program?”

It’s a good question. Our answer is not the only one. Our way is not the only way, but this page will teach you step by step what our “formula” has become.

First of all, please know we did not start building multiple income streams from “day one.”We figured out how to build ONE business – OUR BUSINESS – to profit then began adding other offers. Not everyone on your list will join your MLM etc. You MUST offer options in order to maximize sales from your list. Our business is our ability to advertise, build a list, build relationships with our list and sell them something. Period. That is our business.

We build a community. We help people. We teach marketing and personal mindset. This builds trust. We have offers to products, systems, tools and information products that get sold via emails, blogs, teleseminars, video trainings and webinars. We run a marketing business and we teach others how to run their own.

It’s a different mindset than the usual MLMer who is brainwashed or attracted to be a sales rep for one company. We tried that. We failed miserably and it was NOT FUN to have all the control and leverage resting with the MLM Company and all the downside risk on us. That didn’t feel like a BUSINESS. That felt like a sales job. So we learn how to do it differently and made changes and it’s been the best thing we ever did.

When we finally figured out how to really make consistent money in this industry we actually DUMPED a bunch of programs we were “trying to build” to focus on ONE MAIN TASK:

We chose to build ONE business: YOU,INC. OUR BUSINESS. We ONLY focused on LEARNING MARKETING SKILLS and BUILDING OUR LIST with those skills.

THE most important skills to learn all revolved on “How to build a responsive list.”

We focused on programs, products and teams/systems/mentors that would primarily TEACH us marketing and help us build our main list.

How to build lead capture pages. Simple pages that offered compelling information to people who were already seeking information on how to make money from home.

Our lead capture pages would offer two things:

1. Information on how to get better at online marketing.

2. A review of our system and offers.

WE PUT THE BLINDERS ON.

We stopped caring about trying to make each ad or each follow up email “make a sale.”

Our primary focus became to BUILD THE LIST with opt ins.

Our secondary focus was to deliver valuable information to our subscribers.

Our third focus was to build relationships with our subscribers and ask them to join us and/or buy from us. That is business. The problem out there is everyone is wasting time trying to learn how to build a business and generate sales without selling or running a business. They’re trying to invent some form of social daycare and (oh by the way please figure out that I want you to buy something from me) type of model and it’s laughable! And it doesn’t work.

This industry is built on BUSINESS and SALES and MARKETING and to be scared of those three words is making a date with “I’m broke and hungry on Facebook!” and the sooner you “fix” that mindset and get to business – the sooner you’ll make some money from home.

We focused only on ONE “PROGRAM.” Our Business. Our business is List Building, Relationship Building and Teaching. Period. And we sell stuff people wanna buy. That’s it! We Create Our Own Economy by Banding Together with Like-Minded People and Trading Amongst Ourselves. We trade knowledge, information, training, books, marketing systems, content and private coaching packages. And we help our friends make money this way too.

It’s a totally different mindset that takes a while for “9-5 employee” folks to understand, but once they do – it’s efficient and we have no middlemen in the way that can change comp plans or dictate what and how we do etc. It’s a liberating way to grow your own business.

Our goal was to get our Personal Business into profit mode and keep it there.

Laser focus.

Our mentor built multiple programs. We noticed he was offering a variety of options to his list and it worked for him. He could now advertise and build relationships and teach – not worried about whether his subscribers would like his “one” program or not. He was offering options and that translated into INCOME STREAMS and it was common sense.

We started doing that as well.

Since we enjoyed promoting a direct sales program with a higher price point than most MLMs as a first option, we new that most of our subscribers would NOT join it and we were ok with that. We decided to pick a lower priced alternative to offer them.

At this point it was all about CONVERTING as many subscribers to sales as we could.

We developed an “INFORMATION PAGE” on the web where we could send our subscribers to “get to know us” a bit and to show them the programs we were involved with. We asked them to review our multiple income streams and then simply email or call us so we can talk about which was the “right” program for them.

We took a consultative approach.

I was no longer a “sales rep” for a particular company.

I was a marketing consultant and business broker with a responsibility to offer my subscribers the program that was right for them. So I was not “pushing” a program anymore, I was being more of a guide and that helped my business really grow fast.

My “business” and “primary program” became NOT to “promote a company” but to TEACH BASIC MARKETING SKILLS. My primary program became ME and the information I offered my subscribers. And that led to more sales in the actual opportunities I was building.

We grew frustrated with the fact that some programs in the price points we knew were “sweet spots” would constantly fail. So we fired them. We decided to create our own based on the experience we had gained over the years.

We knew that two things helped us tremendously to finally get and stay in profit mode in this industry:

1. Marketing education.

2. Getting paid WELL on each sale we made.

Those two things allowed us to learn how to make money to stay in business long term and how to advertise, build our list, follow up and close sales. So we focused on those two main priorities in designing the product line and compensation style for our own coaching and list building program and system: Simple Freedom.

COMPENSATION: Most people into financial trouble in this industry because they simply do NOT get paid enough on each sale they make to allow them to:

1. KEEP marketing.
2. Stay in business.

So in designing our compensation we knew we needed to:

1. Keep the price point accessible to newbies.
2. Provide enough up front commissions to allow our members to do real marketing.
3. Provide leverage so that they got paid well on the efforts of others.

This leads to additional streams of income that we don’t directly or consciously “sell” but rather it becomes “the way” this industry works. Almost all tools, resources and lead sources in this industry come with affiliate programs attached. It’s how the industry “spreads the word” about effective products and tools. So you can simply review them to your list as well.

Everyone wants to make money. Everyone needs leads. Everyone needs training and content.
