If you have been following me for any amount of time, you know that I like to add new content all the time. Most days its one great post, something useful or thought provoking to help you get your online business moving in the right direction. Some days I like to shake things up and and two posts, or two posts and a video.

Why? Because a CobWeb site , is nothing more than a once dedicated individual whose ambition and excitement has been taken over by negativity and defeat.

What is a CobWeb site? A web site that hasn’t been updated for a long time. A dead web page.

Entreprenuers are acutely aware that a web site presence is necessary for most any business. A web site gives a business validation, a wide presence and another potential avenue for revenue. But when a web site is not backed up with a good business and marketing plan and content publishing plan, that good idea can cause harm if not properly executed.

A study was conducted by Hostway, parent company of ValueWeb, and what they found in their survey was that while many website owners know that it’s important to update their content regularly most do not. Out of their respondents, 37% update content daily, 16% update weekly, 16% update monthly, and 31% update only annually.

What this says is that most of these companies do not fully understand how important it is to provide their visitors with regularly updated information.

What can you do to maximize your websites potential?

• Create a content schedule and stick to it.
• Update old information if it has changed.
• Keep your Archives readily available to your readers.
• Make your content relevant.
• Check all links and make sure they are all working properly.
• Use opt-in forms to build your list.
• Use all forms of content to bring in visitors, i.e. written content, audio, and video.
