Does Scarcity Drive Sales?

As online business owners and marketers, we know that scarcity is a driving force in sales. How many of us know how to use scarcity to encourage sales rather than having those sales or leads go by the wayside? I would venture to say that many of us think we have a pretty good handle on how to use scarcity, but are our techniques really working for the majority of our online visitors?

How are you using scarcity to drive online sales? Are you hitting the right selling points? Is the item or service truly limited? Do your visitors trust that what you are telling them is really true? How many of these questions have you asked yourself? Take that one step further, and ask yourself if everytime you put out another product or service, are you using scarcity, and if its a yes, are you really using your advertising and to the fullest.

Many of us have experienced the less successful periods in business, and lived to learn from them. Have you ever found the perfect prospect or lead, given them your website, and then never hear from them ever again? No return phone calls, no response at all? You are not alone. Why does this happen? Because you aren’t giving them enough tangible information to make an informed decision. need a real understanding of how the business really works and what’s involved.

As online home business owners, what can we do to guide our prospects to the information they need in order to make an informed decision?

1) Whenever possible, send your prospects to sites that have GUIDED presentations on them (i.e. ones that have strong audio or video overviews of your product/service and your opportunity).

2) Give your prospect SPECIFIC instructions on what to focus in on when they go there. For example: “John, be sure to take the video tour once you are on the site. The video along with all the written copy in the biz opp section will give you a clear idea of our opportunity, our product, how we make our money and what’s involved”.

While company or personal sites that have Audio or Video are your best bets, you can apply the principles above to virtually any website by simply directing your prospect where to go and EXACTLY what to look for when they get there. Even better than giving them instructions, is to walk them through your site by phone and guide them to the specific areas they need to see.
