The New Year will be here shortly, and many of us will be making goals. What is it that we want to accomplish for our financial goals? Are we going to make some solid goals and actually set up a plan as to how we will accomplish those goals? If not, then we are just fooling ourselves. Write your goal out in complete detail. Set Performance, not Outcome Goals. Set Specific & Realistic Goals. Think through your goals about how to achieve them, and ask yourself the following questions to help you to focus on the sub-goals that lead to their achievement:
- What skills do I need to achieve this?
- What information and knowledge do I need?
- What help, assistance, or collaboration do I need?
- What resources do I need?
- What can block progress?
- Am I making any assumptions?
- Is there a better way of doing things?
Set Goals. Why do you want a website? How does a web site fit your overall business plan? What will a website do for you and your business? What is the size of the online market? Is your market growing? What are the goals for your website? Set some achievable metrics for your site. How much traffic do you envision for your site in its first month? And what is your growth target every month thereafter?
Develop Your Web Site Strategy. Who is your website target audience? What typically appeals to your target audience? How are the other websites (your competition) reaching out to this target audience? How will you measure your performance? Have you developed your benchmarks? What will your website do? How will your website stand above the competition?
Set-Up Implementation Plans, Start the Ball Rolling, Create and Launch Your Web Site, Promote Your Web Site and Measure Its Results, and Maintain Your Website and Grow Your Web Business.
There is so much more to beginning an online business, but these few tips will at least help you to get started thinking about what it is that you really want to make as your goals for this coming year. Starting and operating an Internet business is surprisingly similar to operating any other business. Good business practices, like building the confidence of customers through truthful advertising, providing products and services at a fair price, and developing long-term business relationships, are as applicable to Internet businesses as they are to any other businesses.
